Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I like the way the elements in the top pic create questions, the possibility that there's not perfect harmony and happiness, though the scene leans in that direction. The gull and the child are moving in opposite directions, the pier heads out to sea, away from both, and the sun just sits there, looking over all like a lord. It's still a pleasant beach scene, but those elements create some dramatic tension as well. The second shot is a little more unified in its pleasant feel. I'm not sure which I prefer. Must I choose? :)
L, once again, great composition . . . your viewpoint, framing, depth, focal point, symmetry, etc . . . they all pull us into the image. And, your use of just the gray spectrum is wonderful.
There is the very staid and long-standing pier. There is this momentary opposition of the boy and the bird in a moment in time....this is what I see. Some things live after me.
I know I commented on this post. Oh well! These are both great photos, but the first one is fantastic! It's clearly one of my all time favorites that you've posted.
The sun muted by the overcast. The pier vanishing into the fog. The bird, the boy, the pier. Amazing!
Such lovely light and reflections.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, I am loving the reflections on the wet sand. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are quite stunning. A great capture of light.

ReplyDeleteThese are the type of images that tell stories without words. I love them!

Those little streaks throughout the sky. Like scratches on an old photo plate.
