i love a photograph with just the faintest of colour. it is like anything could happen, anything possible. these are stunning Stickup, your compositions are wonderful. ~robert
Hard to pick a favorite in this gathering. The choice for the first and last have a similarity and just a tad less drama then those in-between. It sets the stage for what follows.
the wind blown trees - the curve of the road (you make asphalt look good) then that peak into a space exposed by light. All marvelous.
You are the best nature photographer in the blogsphere. Plus you know how to display your art.
Was it a windy day or are the trees permanently bent in the one picture? Funny, I opened up your blog to see your photos before I go to yoga class this morning and I am looking at the window here and seeing our fog and the photos on your post are of fog too.
In a dense fog it is always difficult for trees to carry on with their normal activity. Many, for instance, reluctantly miss art class for fear of getting lost along the way. Others feel that gouaches just don't look right on days where the clouds, jauntily playing hooky from the sky, obscure the canvas of rusty reds, obliging ochres, and of the virid flourishes that set our senses alight. For trees are artists, or isn't that plain to see?
You have influenced me to go back and look at different wordpress page options. WP has a lot of options but they're very restrictive once you choose one
(you can dump the comment) just wanted to let you know.
These are so real they make me want to put an extra sweater on to keep out the damp chill. So beautiful in their soft lines and delicate colours, the trees through fog, captured in your photos. Visual poetry.
Hello...:) Excuse me for this long silence...i'm stayed in the fog for a long time :) ... A beautiful and poetic moment with your photos... everything is different in the mist ,like an enchanted country... Send you all my best thoughts.. Kisses..:)
i have come here many times, quietly looking, not daring to move, to breathe even... i love fog so much, i don't think this can come as a surprise to you, since most of my photos are so hazy :-) but i have rarely seen such heavenly fog as here, how alive and moving the trees, the road, the stones, the grass seem - i think Van Gogh might have painted fog like this, had he been fond of fog instead of the sun :-)
In a rear view mirror things seem so clear. Been there, done that. But, it is the future and its fogginess that seduces us into moving forward. These photos capture such wanderlust. It is just irresistible to go around the next curve. I have found this true of rivers as well...and of women.
You know how you wrote at my blog about the desire to get up and go see America? Well, that is what these perfect images of yours do for me. I want to thank you for the mental and spiritual getaways you have given me here.
The second image: that light on the smaller tree is almost heavenly. The third image: the road looks like roads of a bygone time. Sets my mind free. The fourth image: again, that ethereal light, this time on the sagebrush, is so beautiful and peaceful.
i have remembered this little anime film which i treasure beyond words, it is one of the most wonderful expressions of what friendship means, but also a parable of a journey into the unknown, where one meets her own fears... and it is about fog as well :-)
Am very late getting around... but better late than not at all, right?
Very beautiful images here, softly stated. But then we have come to expect only beauty in your life in the wild, wild West, and you always come through.
Was wondering if you have any travel plans on the horizon, a little bird whispered in my ear that could be the case... feel free to drop me a line at owenmart333 at gmail.com anytime. And in the meanwhile I hope you're out and about with the camera as much as your heart desires...
Absolutely beautiful! I love fog because it makes everything seem so mysterious. These are really great shots!

ReplyDeleteIt's as though I am dreaming!!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy fog photos, but these are some outstanding images! The colours are magnificent.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos! The color and composition are perfect, as always. Do you know how good you are?

I'm loving 3 and 4 best. Those bits of road add more interest, variety and perspective than they would seem to. But I like 5 a lot too.
ReplyDeleteFog should be a required ingredient in everything, even chili.

ReplyDeleteLove a good fog, reminds me of the old movie "Brigadoon"...
ReplyDeleteFog is lovely I think because it warps time. It is neither here nor there. It is the soul in flux.

ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love that weather! I'd like to be driving down that road...
