Hi Stickup~ That was interesting readng about the different rooster cultural traditions. And those photos are gorgeous! The first three show tiny fire engine red orbs around their eyes and in their combs. The fifth shot shows a brilliant fuchsia wattle. Amazing! I've never noticed this before. And our friend Mythopolis doesn't want a rooster for his chicken coop! xxox
I have never found Roosters very attractive or even at all interesting a bit like chickens! but you have made these look amazing and the cutural traditions are really cool, I didn't know all of this.
Now you are speaking my language! I need to print this post out and hang it in my chicken coop to inspire the girls!
Margaret, I have nothing against roosters. In fact, I am a bit of a rooster myself, if you'll pardon my crowing so! And I like to hear roosters crow. Not all my neighbors agree, particularly when they get that un-godly 4:30am wake-up call, thanks to their nut-case neighbor next door!
These are amazing photos, Stickup!!! Frankly, I've been looking at a lot of chicken picture on-line, and don't recall seeing any as wonderful as these.
Hello dearest Stickup... Wonderful portraits...excellent close- up.. The french emblem ...i don't know if i like that or not...but i think it's real somewhere...:o) I remember when i was child, to have had a big fight with a very agressive coq...I won, but i keep that in my mind ..:o) I love your colorful photos...full of life and strength... Cocorico ,in french...not so good...:o)
I'm in line with everyone else. This is a superb post. Flat out gorgeous. Viewing the detail on the portraits is truly a magical experience. You pay a fine tribute to this exceptional, iconic bird. Bravo!
Hello! A magnificent imagens! a colorful and spectacular sharpness, congratulations! Beautiful shine on the feathers of the rooster. They are magnificent specimens. The legends are very interesting. Kisses friend!
These are the best photographs of roosters I have ever seen. That top one is so rich I ache to touch him. These would, hands down, take awards at the Oregon State Fair. I can just seem the crowds around them in my mind's eye...
Fascinating background on their stature and about the meaning behind the weather vane rooster. I think they are so spectacular and feel it is very sad that some cities are changing regs to allow backyard chickens while restricting roosters. It seems unfair and off-balance. I would love to wake up to a rooster call each morning!
Cock-a-doodle-doo indeed! You can certainly be allowed to crow over the startlingly intense details of these photographs!
I would like to add that the Year of the Rooster is not a propitious one in which to be married, according to Chinese lore. I once cancelled marriage plans for that very reason, never to resurrect them. I guess you could say I chickened out.
What a splendid crest!! Texture is amazing!! Yes, roosters are sacred!!Entrance gate of Shinto shrine is "Torii" which means bird(rooster) pearch based on the myth of Sun Goddess. Thank you for sharing very intersting story.
Wow! The top two photos blow my mind! I've never looked at a rooster so closely before. Great shots and info! I used to be a sailor and I have tattoos but no rooster or pig. :)
It ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe It don’t matter, anyhow An’ it ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe If you don’t know by now When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I’ll be gone You’re the reason I’m trav’lin’ on Don’t think twice, it’s all right
i agree with Dan and Lydia, clearly the most amazing rooster photos i have ever seen! such vibrant and strong colours, they seem to flow with the immense energy one feels condensed in his eyes, his every gesture and pose...
wow...amazing photos. How did you get so close? Is that really only from a lens?! If so, help me understand how to do that!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of it's image as warrior and bearer of good luck. You can find them all over Key West also...roaming the streets and parking lots!
