Taken at one of the koi ponds in the Meditation Garden at the Self-Realization Fellowship Ashram, built in 1937 atop the cliffs of Encinitas in San Diego County overlooking the Pacific. Nicknamed Swami’s by surfers, the name stuck and is now the official name of the internationally known surfing spot on the beach below.

I love a certain 'painterly' quality about these!!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful shots! I looks like some of the Koi fish are made of glass.
ReplyDeleteThe water reflection gives the photo a surreal quality. Indeed very painterly images.
ReplyDeleteSo colorful, and serene. I know that place well. Hope you are enjoying preparing for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteOne of those beautiful spots where you can sync your mind and body . . . the ponds just make the area more reflective. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! They do remind me of paintings. Wonderful shots!
ReplyDeletewow!!! a festival of brightness and colour!!!
ReplyDelete(and it makes me miss japan so much :-)
((i've intented to tell you this for a long time now: i am very grateful and very moved by your comment on my last Bridge, it means the world to me and if you could tell me that then the life of the Bridge was well worth living))
Great reflection shots. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos and reflections. Love the ripple pattern on the water surface
ReplyDeleteNeat serie indeed ! I like how some look just like if they were painted by Monet, or some Impressionist.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was living watercolors. These photos are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've been to the local Self-Realization Fellowship Ashram in Mnt Washington but never knew about this one in San Diego. I want to go!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous. I'm so intrigued by the reflected sky. Koi are the best. I grew up about a mile away from a Koi breeder and nursery. Called Miller's Pond. They had a pond with a cave and you could buy crawdads for a quarter. Now it's a subdivision of hideous beige mini mansions. Anything with a little land turns into dense housing. Makes meant to leave LA. Why I love places like the Self-Realization Fellowship.
I love Koi. Beautiful pond shots!
ReplyDeleteI could have sworn that I commented on this a while back. Oh well! I've driven by this place a million times and surfed right below it. I've never been in there though! Pretty fish and great photos of them.
