On the Road to November

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

  1. If I remember correctly there are an abundance of willows, cottonwoods and sycamores in that area. I love the fall when the leaves of the deciduous trees change colors. Perhaps, one of these days you will allow me to accompany you on one of your sojourns into the San Gabriels. I haven't been to the west coast in such a long time. Your photos make me want to take a road-trip west.

  2. My favorite is behind door #1!

I love the way the mustard yellow road line reverberates with the equally mustard yellow leaves.

  3. All of these photos are beautiful and a couple of them are spectacular! Seriously...
I like quite a few blogs and I really look forward to seeing a few of them. Yours is one of those. I stop by here just to see if you've posted. Love it!

  4. Looking at autumn is like remembering we all see the same moon. These pictures could have been taken here, or in Virginia, or many places, that is what autumn is like. How could one not sigh and smile looking at the array of colors.

  5. Scrumptious color. But where are Crosby and Hope?

  6. It's funny because when I looked at your images I thought "Delicious!" Then I go down and see George Eliot's quote. I think I would join Eliot in flight around the 'autumned' world. But then I don't have to because you share your flights with me.

  11. Ditto the others on East vs. West. I thought maybe Virginia or N.C. I'm a little humbled--or is it resentment? LOL--that California can so resemble such places. Also, I think #1 is my favorite, too, tho' #3 is awfully fine as well, and they're all gorgeous. Sometimes I can get that extra-sharp effect in details like your leaves by punching up my Mac's sharpness or highlighting adjustments. Is that by any chance what you did? To my eye, it resembles pointillism and can be a very ice effect, as it is here.

  13. oh my - what Eliot said. This is my favorite time of year, and despite the criticism of a lack of fall in California - nothing could be further from the truth. It's a bout the light. And you've captured that moody gray light against the intensity of yellow
