These are really great...the dynamic nature of the person with the ocean...the poise, the concentration, the discipline are so evident...how in the hell did you get these shots?!! It is easy to see how one who lives along the beach could get addicted to the wave. Really cool shots!
Great action shots! Surfers are sometimes stereotyped as lazy slackers but most are dedicated athletes. My high school had a surf team and they were in the ocean practicing at 5am and then they went to school.
Awe - good old Huntington Beach. However did you get these shots.? And the water with that green tint I so associate with Southern California beaches. I have to laugh - these guys in their long haired sun tinted perfection, could have been pulled off those beaches during my youth 30 plus years ago. Feels a bit like time standing still.
When you get a chance, make sure you visit San Pedro and Palos Verdes (hint - Abalone Cove, Wayferrers Chapel across the way, then head down the trail to the beach) I await your interpretation
Great captures of these folks, Stickup. As a hills boy and lifelong Midwesterner, more or less, I didn't think much about surfers. But spending some time in Florida lately has made me appreciate them. I can see how it would become some kind of obsession or even religion.
Your shots certainly put to shame my attempts with Florida surfers. Do the Pacific guys smirk at the Atlantic guys?
Wow! These are so beautiful... I've surfed in that exact area many times (in my youth). It's been a long time. I'm assuming you took these from the pier. Right?
These are absolutely brilliant! I don't know how you did it, but you captured the best surfing images I have ever seen. Wow oh wow oh wow

ReplyDeleteExtraordinary! Simply extraordinary . . . the poise, the concentration and the discipline behind the lens is evident, as well.
ReplyDeleteVery energetic. The freezing of the motion seems to accentuate the vital energy.

ReplyDeleteOk, these are Stickup's classically wonderful pics, but what about the girls? Every guy knows we wish they all could be California girls! ;)
