In a Fog

Strange, to wander in the fog.
Each bush and stone stands alone,
No tree sees the next one,
Each is alone.

My world was full of friends
When my life was filled with light,
Now as the fog descends
None is still to be seen.

Truly there is no wise man
Who does not know the dark
Which quietly and inescapably
Separates him from everything else.

Strange, to wander in the fog,
To live is to be alone.
No man knows the next man,
Each is alone.

  1. I think this is true...fog provokes one's sense of aloneness. And even the sound of anything or anyone else seems hushed or far away.

  2. Whoah! Love them all but have a special place for #1 and the bouncing raindrops! Very nice.

  3. The cold, lonely moodiness of the scenes permeates the soul, making one have a sudden longing for a hot cup of cocoa, preferably laced with Cognac, sipped beside a hearth with a roaring fire; and perhaps even a faithful four-legged companion at one's feet to ward off the penetrating sense of isolation.

  5. A misty landscape is like a great silence, a privileged moment between man and nature..
Maybe each tree is a ghost ,wrapped in the eternal silence of woods..i dont know why but it's always a mystical moment for me..a soft whisper , and my imagination may do the rest..
    Nice poetry of elements..:)
    Kisses..♥

  6. I don't remember who said, "Truth is what can be discerned through the fog without dispelling it." These photos provide proof to the supposition . . .

  7. Of course a maniacal caretaker in the fog is just about the worse thing one can imagine (sorry, don't want to give you unnecessary nightmares--the implication being that some nightmares are necessary, but that's for another discussion).

And gone are the Route 66 scenes of lip-syncing lotharios in red convertibles stuffed to the undying brim with semi-clad choristers...but i digress.

Oh, the fog! i agree with HH (only a fool would have the temerity to disagree) and must add that your photos make the words doubly true (no fog of comprehension).

  8. Fantastic photos, but I might like the unexpected raindrops at the end best. I didn't see that coming, but of course it's totally appropriate.

  13. Oh I do love to be among the peaks when they're shrouded in fog. A beautiful capture with a subtle ending. These are sweet narratives indeed
