Autumn Rain on the Chaparral

  1. Music for our eyes, a little wistful, the kind of day where one wants to get back in front of a fireplace with a good book, hot tea, and enjoy the patter of the rain on the roof...

What did Simon and Garfunkel sing ?

"I listen to the drizzle of the rain,
    Like a memory it fals...
    Soft and warm, continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls..."

Anyway, better rain than brushfires. Hope all is good with you.

  2. You captured pure beauty in these shots, so clear that I believe I am smelling the wetting of the brush. And you used one of my all-time favorite words in the title: Chaparral. Isn't it exquisite, hearkening back to another time almost...

  6. Beautiful shots. Is the plant in the first shot a Fouquieria?

  7. That top photo just knocks me out. It seems truly spontaneous but at the same time, very well composed.

  9. I'm always lamenting about the lack of fall colors in California but you found some and captured them beautifully. I guess hardwood trees aren't the only places to find beauty. The rain adds to the wonderful feel. Great stuff!!!!

  10. Oh I love these. Those warm, vivid colours of the vegetation played against the soft grey weather tones. And those subtly sequined highlights on the windscreen! Mmmmm. Can I just ride along in this magic bubble, cozy and warm, lulled by the hissing of the tires on the wet pavement and the wipers keeping time to the heartbeat of the landscape? I come from the land of rain, but the colours there are mute whereas these of the chaparral sing aloud.

  11. I've just been sitting and looking at these photos. I kept scrolling up and down. I decided that the fourth one down captured, for me, anyway, that feeling of being on the road and never wanting to stop. And then, the next to last one. That looks like some place I would have stopped at, to catch my breath. Gorgeous.

  12. What a lovely series! Colours do pop in all that blueish grey.
I guess today is the last day of summer, storms are expeted tomorrow. No transition at all here, it's crazy!
