Rituals and Relics

Taking off your shoes is a sacred ritual. It is a hallowed moment of remembering the goodness of space and time. It is a way of celebrating the holy ground on which you stand. If you want to be a child of wonder cherish the truth that time and space are holy. Whether you take off your shoes symbolically or literally matters little. What is important is that you are alive to the holy ground on which you standand to the holy ground that you are.

  2. Where I live we always take off our shoes when entering someones home. I have always thought it was because of the snow and mud that is present outdoors much of the year. There is also this to consider.

  5. I read this quote out loud to hubby and he said "Excellent!". These words are close to what we believe about space and time.

The photo of the boots is awesome. First of all, the deep colors of boots on the dark floor. The laces entwined has a special meaning for me. I so like this photo. Would it be okay with you if I print it out and put in a frame?

  11. Hi Stickup~ I love the bronzed look of evening and recollections. (Remember how baby shoes were glazed like that to be a keepsake?) The quote is amazing. When you step out of your shoes, you are in touch with the earth and thus connected with everyone touching the earth: and our earth is holy ground. Beautiful. ♥

  12. This post is full of meaning and the photos are fantastic! While I was reading it, many places around the globe have crossed my mind, places you can only visit with your shoes off.

  14. Warm, rich, dark, worn, glowing...image and background in perfect harmony. One of our assignments in art school was to draw a pair of our favourite old shoes. What tales they could tell if only we could hear.

  15. Hello dearest Friend
I like this idea of ritual, and I can really understand the deeper meaning of these words ..And I really like to feel the planet earth under my bare feet, a communion between the energies, to be honest I hate having my feet enclosed in shoes ... I sometimes wear sandals in winter ... to maintain an illusion of freedom ..: o) yes, everyone has its rituals and relics ...!!:o))
And these photos are very beautiful ... come from another time ..
I love your idea and the choice of this text ... that's great ..: o)
