  9. Right place, right time, right skills all combine to produce a fantastic capture. The rusted harshness of the barbed wire provides a good textural contrast to the jewel-like tones and softness of the bird's feathers. The quote is one of my favourite Cohen lines. Nice!

  14. A very sharp image of a beautiful bird. I love the wire just fading out of focus away from the subject.

  17. A totally strange and beautiful shot! Masterful. I love the L.C. lines as well. I heard a strange story about Leonard when Rufus Wainwright met Cohen for the first time. Cohen was in his underwear, chewing up bits of sausage and feeding them to an injured bird he was rescuing! Told you it was strange!

  27. Life takes some strange turns. I posted my own image of Leonard Cohen's "Bird on the Wire" on my blog. I would have to say, though, by far you have the more spectacular bird! I included some of his other poems and the YouTube "Hallelujah." If you would like to check it out, it's in my blog margaretpanpipes.blogspot.com, dated 11/3/09, entitled "Icon Leonard Cohen." Let me know what you think! Best, Margaret

  28. Dear Stickup,
I may be the slowest and thus the last getting here to admire your marvellous bird, which I like almost as much as your, errrr, your mule. What a crazy color he is... would love to see him perched on our birdfeeder. It is an hypnotizing image. I think that is a technique you are coming to master... how to hypnotize your visitors...

  29. I think that sometimes we are all birds on the wire, not everyday, just sometimes.

The details in the feathers are just great! such beautiful colors of green.

  31. This brought tears to my eyes it is so beautiful.

My husband and I saw Leonard Cohen in Portland in Dec. 2010 and he sang that song. I can only guess that he would love this image and tribute.

  32. Stunning! Like Sally in WA says - the capture of the iridescence is very special. I have never seen a hummingbird in real life - and even in pictures this is probably my best ever view of one.
