Mountainview Cemetery

A few days ago I googled Randy Rhoads who co-wrote a song that I quoted in a recent post. I was surprised to learn that he was interred about twenty minutes down the road at Mountainview Cemetery at the base of Waterman Road which leads up the mountain to Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. So naturally, I had to pay a visit.

  1. Very nice post. I love to visit cemeteries. I especially liked the shots of the angel baby with flower and the stone lady splashing in the pond. I'm a sucker for stonepeople.

My favorites, of course, were of you with concrete thigh-inserts and tennies!

  2. Thanks Pliers,

    Ah yes, works in stone!

    "Concrete thigh inserts." Only you.

    I love my sneaks too.

  3. Hey !

You just knew I was going to love this one, I'm sure of it...

So now I'm going to have to Google Randy Rhoads as I'm certainly not familiar with him.

So that was you with the concrete thigh inserts ??? I was getting ready to ask who the tourist was you took a picture of, but apparently it's you, though cryptically hidden behind a camera...

Beautiful cemetery, it's been a while since I've done a cemetery post, have many ready to go, just so many other things keep coming along, and one cannot blog all day every day...

  4. Hey Owen,

True enough, but I gave it a good run.

Yup, the Pliers gave me away.

The R.R. story is a tragic one and I was truly amazed when I learned of his final resting place. Right when I pulled into the cemetery, my radio started playing Iron Man. It was chilling.

  5. Cemeteries are such regal places. Even if the headstones are crumbling. I like to spend time exploring them. You have found quite the well manicured cemetery. I love all the flowers against the sculptures. Pretty place.

  9. You did a great job with this post as usual. I enjoy walking in old cemeteries better than newer ones but you really gave life to this one. You are a natural at photography. The top part of the post reminds me of high school because there where several people who wore Randy Rhodes RIP T-shirts.
