Yes, make that ocean work for you. (You did. You will). I'm struck by your excellent evasion of cliche in a subject that invites cliche. You've got a great sky, of course, but you're also wise enough to catch the sunset when it's a thin orange line on the horizon, which makes it more dramatic and more unusual (as in original). I like these a lot!
That last bit of diminishing light is a mysterious, and dare I say spiritual moment for me. Right before the poof! It's almost as if all around you come to a stop and become still - just for that singular moment.
Hope you enjoy your new place, and I look forward to seeing pics from around the new area. We are enjoying rain each day out here this week. It is raining right now as a matter of fact.
Oh, these are wonderful! And the first fruits of your proximity to the sea, I suppose. I am in awe!
ReplyDeleteI love sunsets and sunrises. You should post those gorgeous photos on Facebook. Check out

Lots of water in them there clouds. The setting red sun defies the clouds to dump their water and douse its fire out.
ReplyDeletebeautiful Stickup!

ReplyDeleteOkay, now I miss the ocean again. :-( So I'll have to get my fix from your amazing photos. Seriously these are fantastic shots!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous series of photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and unusual sunset. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it, with the bright streak of red under the clouds.
ReplyDeleteAmazing orange line on the horizon! Fabulous shots.
ReplyDeleteHeavy sky and leaden sea sandwiching the sultry sun. Only in California!
ReplyDeleteA week has passed and hopefully you have received that much needed rain...
Gathering above the raising tide
ReplyDeleteFar out beyond the advancing surge
A crimson line marks the divide
Where storm clouds and the ocean converge.
The evening sky looks like molten lead
Far too dark and heavy to remain
Hushed and hovering overhead
And yet, still not a drop of rain.
GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteLove these photos. Welcome to the coast.
