“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil! – prophet still, if bird or devil! –
Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted –
On this home by horror haunted – tell me truly, I implore –
Is there – is there balm in Gilead? – tell me – tell me, I implore!”
Quoth the raven, “Nevermore.”
~ from The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
Happy Halloween!
Love the words and the photos! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat b&w compositions! Love the blurred Joshua's Tree. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThe raven photo is awesome. Nice addition to your post to remind of the Poe words. Happy Halloween to you too, way out there in California land.
ReplyDeleteTalking ravens get such a bad rap nowadays.
ReplyDeleteSo well conceived and composed.
ReplyDeleteDramatic choice of black and white. I like it. Ditto the focus in the second photo. Much more interesting and haunting than a more conventional choice would have been.
ReplyDeletethe raven seems almost "added" there to make a kind of collage, such an unbelievably great photo! :-)
ReplyDeleteand the landscape is breathtaking, despite being so subdued.
As soon as I saw the top photo and title Poe came to mind. Excellent black and white photos! I love the grain.
