The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious,
awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.
~ Henry Miller
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy,
and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.
~ William Arthur Ward
In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, I'd like to express my gratitude for all that you share on your blogs and
thank you for your visits, comments and emails throughout this year. Some days, it makes all the difference . . .
Very cool images! Great quotes and lovely post.
ReplyDeleteLove the blurred effect. It causes me to pay closer attention to the surface and notice the texturing of black markings and patternings. The quotations are so apt for the images and the season. Thank you for sharing your inspiring photographs and your evolving artistry. Happy Thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteI must say that I, while only one of many, am very thankful for YOU!
ReplyDeleteThe final image in this Thanksgiving triptych is significant: the fence that separates us from our true selves is gone--the eye focuses through the wire and sees the heart, the soul.
ReplyDeleteI too am thankful--for Ariel (as you know) and for the people, such as yourself, that hear a different drummer...
I'm surprised the blurring is working so well for me. The autumn colors and shapes are gorgeous, maybe more so without definition, and the fence adds interest and contrast. I think #2 is my fave, but #3 is close behind. How'd you get the idea? Image first or idea first?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice quotations. I look forward to your posts and your visits to mine. Speaking of Gratitude, you might look into Edward Hirsch's first two books of poetry, For the Sleepwalkers and Wild Gratitude. He too loves this world and its images, even when they're sad.
You always bring everything into focus for me . . . thank you for being who you are and for sharing your extraordinary gifts with us all. Love ya, Dee
ReplyDeleteYou remain my favorite landscape photographer. Seeing what others don't and doing just the right amount of tweaking to land it I've always thought that putting in the chain link fence into a photo was kind of an honest way in seeing this big city. But you made it take an esthetically pleasing turn - great quotes too. I've enjoyed our blogger connection very much. Today is black saturday and I just ordered an online video camera. Dang that the other one that was a bit higher grade was out of stock.
ReplyDeleteAnd how grateful I am to refresh my eyes with your beautiful imagery every time I visit your blog. That lost shot of this series dazzles me. The whole post makes me think of the phrase "hearts afire."
ReplyDeleteThis, and the previous post, are pure magic...
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing you didn't live in Salem, Mass, in the 1600's, they would have accused you of witchcraft, for sure, for you cast spells in our eyes which leave us enchanted.
And if you happen to still have a visitor with you, a mutual friend, please pass my warmest greetings on to her, while keeping some for yourself as well.
You have become a master artist! Truly inspirational work!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe second picture "strange".
ReplyDeleteit's magic, yes.. you can conjure up an entire world out of almost nothing...
ReplyDeletei think that it is i who feels compelled to express my gratitude, for making us a part of all this beauty and kindness of the heart...
Interesting work!!
ReplyDeleteVery well done, my friend!!!
This is such a great lesson in visual changes, same view, and wow it looks so different.
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying your winding down of the year, and remember I am sending you hugs for the holidays.

ReplyDeleteI like these sayings in this post and of course, just as I remember, your pictures are always fascinating.

Oops. It's like the saying "If you build it, he will come". I guess I jumped the gun. :-)
ReplyDeletetomorrow there will be a month without you...
ReplyDeletejust to say that i miss you
Dropping in to wish you Happy Holidays Stick Up Artist
ReplyDeletei concur with the above-cited assessment of that enfant terrible of the Romanian Faculty of Literature (well known for its precise use of sundials) that a month has passed since your last post, and that you are dearly missed. i wish you a happy holiday and hope you return soon.
