I camped here last week after the holiday crowds left — right on the beach. Falling asleep under a blanket of stars, soothed by songs of surf, seagulls, and even a gentle rain plop plopping on the tent one night; following the graceful movements of pelicans and seals, reclining in the shade of a cave carved by the elements into the cliffs, sunning and swimming. I hope you all are enjoying these last days of summer.
And I know just what you camped in! Ha!
ReplyDeleteI am particularly enamored of image #3--the composition is exquisite, almost 3D. I like the juxtaposition of colors and textures. Bravo!
You were a couple hundred miles from home. Great images! I'd give a few tomorrows to spend sometime on that beach with you . . . as always, the composition could not be better. Were you north or south of the park?
ReplyDeleteA crepuscular rendezvous with sand, sea, and self--the perfect dénouement to a long, soul-stirring summer.
ReplyDeletePost Scriptum --
the ochre and blue combination is thrilling...

Sounds (and looks) quite nice.
ReplyDeleteIt is sooo beautiful, and I am soooo jealous!!
ReplyDeleteJust fabulous! The top shot reminds me of a place south of Lisbon but not very far, where I used to go every weekend in the 80s, until it became too fashionable for my taste. Then you could find old countrymen dressed in black selling figs in baskets on the back of donkeys, right on the beach. This is even funnier if you think it was a (not legal at the time) nudist beach! :-) Now there are bars everywhere and major music festivals in summer.
ReplyDeleteSplendid colour, i much like.
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful! It's been way too long since the last time I slept on the beach. Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I slept on a beach was probably at Avalon... that goes way back.
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful... looks wonderful too...
Great photos of a beautiful place! It's been several years, but I've also camped there. Next time though, I won't be sleeping on the beach. I'll be sleeping in our RV. I've heard that they added quite a few cabins since I've been there.
ReplyDeleteI like all of these (again!), but definitely in this order of preference: 1,3,2. The first one has a sharpness and pop the others don't--I think because of the whiteness in the breakers and the two humans, which add more points of interest. Maybe all the colors are a bit more intense too. I think I put 3 ahead of 2 only because the formation in the foreground also adds an extra point of interest.
ReplyDeleteAutumn came in with the rain last night here in Michigan. I'm ready, except for the shorter days--don't think I'll ever be OK with that.
i have never had this experience, of sleeping on an empty beach, quite literally being cradled by the vastness and yet intimacy of nature... you don't know how grateful i am that you transfer me like this, in imagination, into this other world of sand and water and sky...
ReplyDeleteYou really did have the beach to yourself. And you didn't invite me? I'm hoping to catch some kind of vacation when all the work slows down. I'm exhausted and this bit of paradise reminds me of how much. What a treat.
ReplyDeleteIt's simply infinitely beautiful...the colors ,the vastness ,the contrast between the ochres and blue..wow it's a pure vision.. really High quality work ..thank you.:)
