  4. Beautiful ! One of my favorite places in the whole wide world... would love to get back there, was last in Death Valley in 1991 I guess. Was out in Las Vegas for a joint Grateful Dead / Santana concert at UNLV, and took off to go see Death Valley the day before the show.

You may want to correct the typo in the title, unless I'm mistaken it is spelled "Zabriskie".

Have you seen the film "Zabriskie Point" ? The Grateful Dead were involved for some of the music, or Jerry anyway.

You sure are covering some gorgeous ground these days ! Ramble on !

  6. If you had to choose between the color and the black/white, what would you base your choice on? It's making me crazy, and they're not even mine, of course. If forced, I guess I'd go with color again, but it's just a matter of which kind of power one prefers. If you were to print and frame them, might you a twosome in one frame (is that a diptych?). Or would they war with each other for power? Well, great work, Stickup. Maybe you'll have to buy a black&white house and a color house . . .

  7. How on earth did you get the colors in that second photograph? ????

I'm literally shaking with how beautiful it is.

I came across a box of old slides from my grandfather when he was roaming about the southwest (for General Electric) checking on GE sub station or power plants. And I came across a few ektachrome (?) slides of death valley that showed this kind of color. So I know it's not all done in the studio - but I want to know how you did the part that is. Love Love Love

  10. These images not only appear as perfect and pure records of nature itself but as an accomplishment of your ability to reveal what others have only tried to do – capture the emotion one feels when surrounded by beauty beyond comprehension.

  11. VERY nice! I haven't been there in many years. The first photo looks like an amazing drawing done with pencils. All the contrasts in it are amazing...

  12. Funny, i don't usually think of mountains as being the earth's epidermis--but there you have it! A leathery patch followed by mauvish one: the outer layer of some Cyclopean creature. The texture is thrilling. i puts me in some kind of perspicacious delirium.

  13. as much as i love the bw shots, the coloured one has completely mesmerized me - the layers of different, such subtle hues are so beautiful, a painter couldn't have done it better than the silent flowing energy of nature... i am humbled, and once again grateful to you for making possible such astonishing experiences...
