The Touch of Spring

I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And 'tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure;
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature's holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

~ Lines Written In Early Spring by William Wordsworth

  2. I am totally floored... each more beautiful than the last. But the bird hopping off the water to the music of Wordsworth's words, what could be more fitting. An artist you were, and artist you are, and artist you shall always be. And we are the richer for your efforts. Pure pleasure, pure poetry, pure passion.

  3. Brought tears, those Wordsworth truths and Stickup Artist vision. I am still relatively new to your blog so may be wrong about this, but I would not be surprised if this is not some of your finest work. It certainly is among the finest photographic tributes to any season I have ever seen.
    (#3, 5, 6 my favorites)

  4. Reading the words makes me see that man has been self destructive for a very long time.

    I am intrigued with the texture of these photographs. You did a wonderful job of matching pics to the words.

    This is a beautiful post, sweet and yet nostalgic.
